New Orleans Walking Tour FAQ

This New Orleans walking tour FAQ covers everything you need to know before you walk with us. If you don’t find your answer here, reach out and we’ll get back to you.

Absolutely. Most of our guests aren’t architects, and that’s the point. We designed these tours for anyone who’s curious about the buildings they’re walking past. You don’t need to know a cornice from a column to have a great time. You will by the end, though.
You can book directly on our website using the Book Now button on any tour page. Booking takes about two minutes, and you’ll get an instant confirmation email with your meeting point and everything you need to know.
Yes, we recommend booking in advance. Our groups are small by design, and tours do fill up. If space is available, we can sometimes accommodate walk-ups, but reserving your spot ahead of time is the best way to make sure you’re in. You can book online or call us at (504) 355-1213.
Kids are welcome, and they often surprise us. They’re the ones who spot the gargoyles, count the columns, and ask the questions the rest of us are too shy to ask. We recommend ages 8 and up for the best experience, but you know your kids best.
Our tours cover about 1 to 1.5 miles over two hours, with plenty of stops along the way. The pace is conversational, not athletic. If you can handle a casual stroll with some standing, you’ll do great.
Comfortable walking shoes are the most important thing. New Orleans sidewalks can be uneven, so save the heels for dinner. Dress for the weather: sunscreen and a hat in summer, layers in winter. We walk rain or shine, so an umbrella is smart to have on hand.
We walk rain or shine. New Orleans weather is part of the story, and a little rain never stopped a good tour. If conditions become truly dangerous (thunder, lightning, or flooding), we’ll reach out to reschedule or refund your booking. Bring an umbrella and comfortable shoes, and you’ll be fine.
Plans change. We get it. You can cancel up to 24 hours before your tour for a full refund. If something comes up last minute, email us at info@nolatours.com and we’ll do our best to help with rescheduling.
Each tour has a specific meeting point. When you book, your confirmation email will include the exact address and a link to the map. If you need help finding us on tour day, just call or text and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Tips are appreciated but never expected. If your guide made your walk memorable, a tip is a wonderful way to say thanks. Your guide will be with you at the end of the tour.
We focus on architecture and history, not ghost stories or bar crawls. Every one of our guides is licensed by the City of New Orleans, and many bring academic backgrounds in history, architecture, or urban planning. We keep our groups small so you can actually have a conversation with your guide. And we’ve been doing this since 2014.
